To Become a Designer
There are those who think of design as one of the arts, but product design is surprisingly scientific. In order to design products that are useful to people, safe, and easy to use, a steady, scientific process of repeated observation and experimentation is absolutely essential. On the other hand, the fact is that no matter how far science has advanced, it cannot yet explain the human heart. To create things we find moving, comforting, or beautiful, we must be able to master the art forms handed down to us through history. Design is the union of science and art. What we call “good design” demonstrates a perfect balance between the two. In this laboratory, we put product design into practice to produce prototypes. Our curriculum will impart to you the necessary engineering knowledge and experimental methodology, build your sketch and model making skills, and cultivate your aesthetic sensibility.
